At the heart of this message lies a profound challenge to examine how we extend God’s love in two critical directions: within the church community and outward to a world desperately needing to encounter Christ. We’re reminded through Jesus’ words in the Gospel of Matthew that following Him means embracing His mission. From the moment Jesus called His first disciples by the Sea of Galilee saying ‘I will make you fishers of men,’ to His final commission commanding us to make disciples of all nations, the call has been clear: loving people is not optional for followers of Christ. The message explores the powerful truth that prayer for one another represents not the least we can do, but the most we can offer. When we pause to intercede for our brothers and sisters in Christ, we participate in something magnificent that transforms both the one praying and the one being prayed for. But our love cannot stop at the church doors. Through the parable of the Good Samaritan in Luke 10, we’re confronted with uncomfortable questions about who qualifies as our neighbor and what genuine love actually costs us. The Samaritan’s love was inconvenient, compassionate, messy, costly, and continual. It challenges us to ask whether we’ve become so consumed with our schedules and digital distractions that we’ve stopped seeing the people God has strategically placed in our paths. This isn’t about creating more programs; it’s about being missional in the circles where God has already positioned us, loving people whose names we know and whose stories we can hear.
