In John 17, we encounter Jesus’ powerful prayer for unity among believers. This prayer, offered just hours before His crucifixion, reveals the profound importance of Christian unity. We’re challenged to pursue and protect this unity, not as a passive state, but as an active commitment. The message reminds us that unity doesn’t mean uniformity or the absence of disagreement. Rather, it’s about maintaining love and fellowship despite our differences. This unity, centered on Christ and His cross, becomes a powerful witness to the world of God’s love. As we reflect on this, we’re prompted to examine our own hearts. Where do we need to lay aside opinions or grudges for the sake of unity? How can we, like those hunting dogs responding to their master’s call, turn our focus back to Jesus and, in doing so, draw closer to one another?
