This week with Exchange

The Latest: EC Update / Sunday Courses / Tuesday Night Prayer with Elders / Small Groups

Elder Update on Exchange

As you likely know, the fight with the COVID-19 virus continues to develop abroad, and in our own community. For many, this has likely brought new levels of frustration and fear, as well as hope and optimism for a better day. Our elder team has continued and re-ignited our prayer and discussions on how the many people and areas of Exchange might be impacted. While we did not fully expect to be revisiting many of these decisions again at this point in the year, we are exceedingly hopeful God will continue to use the path forward to shape Exchange into a people recognized as belonging to Jesus. With that in mind, we are asking that you join us in that prayer. Pray that we would be a church filled with individual persons who have “certainly been with Jesus”. As we continue to pray and discuss further options and plans, we are committed to communicating often and with as much clarity as we are able to provide. Currently, as the Spirit continues to give discernment on how we can best lead Exchange, our plan is to update you on our thoughts in the next couple of weeks. Until that time, we are not amending our gatherings but would welcome, as always, those who choose to wear a face covering. We are exceedingly grateful for your prayers as we seek God’s wisdom in this time of challenge and opportunity.

Sunday Morning Courses: Starting August 22

I have heard it said that we “don’t need to try harder, we need to train better”.  As you know, we all need better rhythms. Our hope in this new season is to train better toward the things that matter. And what matters is Being with Jesus, Becoming Like Jesus, and Living for Jesus. As we mentioned Sunday, we are slowly and intentionally rolling out a strong discipleship focus this Fall. We are starting with two courses on Sunday Mornings at 8:30 before worship. We will offer these two 8-week courses twice to ensure your ability to be a part of both courses. If you sign up for one this 8 weeks, you will be able to sign up for the other one the following 8 weeks. The courses will run August 22-October 10, then will start over for round two on October 17!

Read descriptions below, click on the photo, and sign up today! Please sign up your child(ren) as well as we will offer childcare for registered kids.

THE GOAL: This 8 week course is designed to train and equip you for the mission of our Christian lives. We all need this! We are called to represent and communicate Christ wherever He has placed us. This course will give very practical training on how to do just that. We will learn from Jesus and then practice the Way of Jesus. This is training in all of the right things.

CONTENT: This course will cover the following: What is Missional Living and Identifying who is in our circles; Every Member a Minister, The Battle: Identifying the Internal and External forces that fight against you in this great work; Learning how to share your 15 Second Testimony; Learning how to share the Gospel with a simple, reproducible tool; Mapping your areas of influence and first steps to missional living; Red, Yellow, Green Lights and walking in the Spirit.

TEACHERS: This course will be taught by Jeremy & Reagan Reynolds.

THE GOAL: This course is designed to help us learn the Way of Jesus and Practice the Way of Jesus. The goal is to come alongside him and learn from Him (Matthew 11:28-30). We will study his cadence, his pace, his posture, his pursuit.

CONTENT: The 8 week course will cover the following: Self Assessment of Personal Rhythms and Personal Spiritual and Emotional Health; Intentional and Unintentional Formation; How People Change; Digital Addiction; Rhythms of Scripture Intake, Slowing Down, Silence & Solitude, and Sabbath. We must learn to “be before we do” because we simply “cannot give what we do not have”. Last semester, someone said, “I did not know how bad I needed the content of this course until it changed my life”. Our hope is that every person at Exchange can get trained in this course.

TEACHER: The course will be taught by Ed Martin.

Prayer Night with the Elders: Tuesday, August 17

Last month we enjoyed a powerful time of prayer together. We were so blessed by those who were able to be there. It is a very simple, but incredibly necessary time where we seek the Lord together. We will gather again on Tuesday August 17th. We hope you can make plans now to attend next week. We pray for each other, through Scripture, and make much of Jesus. We will meet at the Office at 207 N Main Street in Rolesville.
