Call to Prayer: Psalm 95:2

Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise!

Time of Gratitude

“Give thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ” (Eph. 5:20).

Take this time to give thanks to God for three (3) specific things from the last 24 hours.

Praying the Lord’s Prayer: “Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven”

Lord we fight for our own kingdoms with a fervor that never ceases to surprise me—our kingdom; our will. But you show us a better way. You trade our sad, failing kingdom for your own. Our wills traded in for the wise rulings of a King whose ways are above our ways and whose thoughts are better than my thoughts. Your kingdom will stand, ours is already falling. We submit with joy to your leading in our lives today. Amen.

Scripture Reading from the Gospels: Matthew 16:13–20

  1. How do you see the sovereignty of God in this passage?
  2. How might God be calling you into obedience today?

Virtue to Cultivate: Gratitude

We pray that your grace would lead us to deep wells of gratitude. Rather than a life marked by discontentment and reaching for that which we do not have, lead us to give thanks in all circumstances knowing that you withhold no good thing from us.

Commission to Serve the King:
Colossians 3:1–2

If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.
