Call to Prayer: Psalm 37:3–4

Trust in the LORD, and do good; dwell in the land and befriend faithfulness.

Delight yourself in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart.

Time of Gratitude

“Give thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ” (Eph. 5:20).

Take this time to give thanks to God for three (3) specific things from the last 24 hours.

Praying the Lord’s Prayer: “Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us”

Jesus, only because you are the one who goes before us can we forgive. We choose to forgive as you forgive—as you already have forgiven us. We cannot withhold forgiveness from others any more than you do for us. We’re sorry that we do. May we forgive with open hands those who have sinned against us in big ways and small ways. You see our hearts. You know how hard this is. But we chose to walk in obedience even in this. By your Spirit, help us to forgive abundantly as we have been forgiven abundantly. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Scripture Reading from the Epistles: 1 Timothy 6:6–12; Acts 1:1–11 for the Ascension

  1. How do you see the sovereignty of God in this passage?
  2. How might God be calling you into obedience today?

Praying the Mission of Exchange: “Enjoy the Glory of God”

Attribute of God to Praise: God is Faithful

Your steadfast love never fails, so great is your faithfulness. It  is new each morning (Lamentations 3:22–23). You have been perfectly faithful in the past, so you will be today, in this moment and in the ones to come. Thank you for being faithful to your promises even when we are unfaithful to ours. Remind us of your faithful care as we walk through this day.

Commission to Serve the King:
1 Peter 3:15–16
In your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect, having a good conscience, so that, when you are slandered, those who revile your good behavior in Christ may be put to shame.
