Call to Prayer: Psalm 23:1–3

The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.

Time of Gratitude

“Give thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ” (Eph. 5:20).

Take this time to give thanks to God for three (3) specific things from the last 24 hours.

Prayer for the Church

How blessed you are, eternal Lord, for giving us a Savior, conceived of the Spirit, born of a virgin. We bless you for his baptism, for the descent of the dove, the anointing of the Spirit, for his divine empowering, for his illumination by the Spirit of truth. We bless you for his ministry of mighty works and tender mercies. We praise you for his obedient suffering, for his sacrifice on the cross, for his rest in the tomb, for his glorious resurrection and ascension into heaven. How thankful we are, great God. To you be eternal praise. Blessed you are, O Father, that on the day of Pentecost Christ poured out the fire of his Spirit on his disciples and made them one body, that in this last day your Spirit is being poured out on all flesh, making us a holy people and a royal priesthood. [WSB, 709]

Scripture Reading from Pentecost: Hebrews 11

  1. How do you see the sovereignty of God in this passage?
  2. How might God be calling you into obedience today?

The Gathering of the Redeemed for the Worship of the King

Pray for the gathering of believers for the worship of God. Pray that we may be filled with the Spirit in order that we may worship the Lord in Spirit and Truth. Pray that God will bless the worship of his people, that we may enjoy the glory of God, being fully satisfied in him. Amen.

Commission to Worship the King:
Hebrews 12:28–29

Therefore, let us be grateful for receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, and thus let us offer to God acceptable worship, with reverence and awe, for our God is a consuming fire.
