Call to Prayer: Psalm 33:8–9

Let all the earth fear the LORD; let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him! For he spoke, and it came to be; he commanded, and it stood firm.

Time of Gratitude

“Give thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ” (Eph. 5:20).

Take this time to give thanks to God for three (3) specific things from the last 24 hours.

Praying the Lord’s Prayer: “Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven”

Lord Jesus, your kingdom far outshines the weak attempts at empire building our hearts and minds have produced. Yet we continue to fight for our rights to build them. Forgive us. Forgive us for the rebellion in our hearts that continues to spread the lie that we can do this on our own. We acknowledge with joy that we cannot produce anything that matters apart from you. We need you every hour. Thank you for being all that we cannot be today. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Scripture Reading from the Gospels: Mark 4:35–41

  1. How do you see the sovereignty of God in this passage?
  2. How might God be calling you into obedience today?

Virtue to Cultivate: Joy

Thank you God that you have made a way for us to have true, lasting, abundant, complete joy. We confess that we have put our hope of happiness in things that do not bring real joy. Jesus cultivate in us a deep well of joy that is not dependent on the things around us right now. Thank you that you will be faithful to do this.
