Call to Prayer: Psalm 47:8–9

God reigns over the nations; God sits on his holy throne. The princes of the peoples gather as the people of the God of Abraham. For the shields of the earth belong to God; he is highly exalted!

Time of Gratitude

“Give thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ” (Eph. 5:20).

Take this time to give thanks to God for three (3) specific things from the last 24 hours.

Praying the Lord’s Prayer: “Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us”

We are not good at this, Lord. Any of it, if we’re honest. We do what we should not do, and we don’t do the things we should. Forgive us. Humble us to remember just how much there is in need of forgiveness in our lives. Thank you for being the Just and Good King who is faithful to forgive the dark and twisted places. Thank you that you are all that we are not. Thank you that you give us your righteousness in exchange for our sin. We cannot do this on our own. Thank you that we don’t have to, for you are with us and for us.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Scripture Reading from the Epistles: Revelation 7:9–17

  1. How do you see the sovereignty of God in this passage?
  2. How might God be calling you into obedience today?

Praying the Mission of Exchange: “Enjoy the Glory of God”

Attribute of God to Praise: God is Unchanging

Thank God that your Word says that you do not change like shifting shadows (James 1:17). In your perfection, there is no need for variation or improvement. As you have always been, so you are today. As you have always been good, holy, just, kind, powerful, loving, faithful and true, so you are and always will be. Give us grace to hold on to your unchanging goodness when life feels ever shifting.
